Sagarmatha Swimming Club of Lalitpur clinched the title of the Second Nepalgunj National Swimming Championship 2025 with 272 points. Organized by Nepalgunj Swimming Club, Banke, the championship saw participation from 150 swimmers nationwide. Arek Karmacharya and Riza Awale were named Best Male and Female Swimmers respectively. Medal-winning athletes will now receive free access to the Nepalgunj swimming pool.

Sagarmatha Swimming Club of Lalitpur has emerged as the champion of the Second Nepalgunj National Swimming Championship 2025, held in Nepalgunj. The tournament was organized by Nepalgunj Swimming Club, Banke, and featured swimmers from across Nepal.

Sagarmatha Swimming Club secured the title with an impressive 272 points. The championship trophy was jointly presented by Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Prashant Bista, Nepal Swimming Association President Jagatman Shrestha, and Banke District Police Chief Angur GC.

According to the competition’s Technical Director Bishnu Khadka Chhetri, James School of Lalitpur finished second with 135 points across 56 swimming events, while Shikha Academy of Kohalpur, Banke, placed third with 52 points.

Individually, Arek Karmacharya dominated the competition by winning seven gold medals and was named Best Male Swimmer. Riza Awale claimed five medals and was awarded Best Female Swimmer. Both athletes received cash prizes of NPR 5,000 each.

A total of 150 swimmers from various parts of the country participated in the championship. Organizers expressed confidence in hosting international-level swimming competitions in the future and urged all levels of government to prioritize the development of swimming in Nepal.

Additionally, medal-winning swimmers from the championship will be granted free access to the swimming pool at the Nepalgunj Stadium Complex, a move aimed at promoting competitive swimming in the region.
